Elementary

Our HTCS teachers strive to meet each child where they are at educationally, as well as socially and spiritually. The small class sizes are a benefit for learning with attention given to each student and their specific area of need.

Lower elementary classes build the foundational academic knowledge in reading and math, as well as other subjects. This involves developing and improving listening skills, learning to stay on task, and working together with peers. There is a balanced mixture of whole group instruction and one-on-one as teachers ensure the student has mastered a particular concept before moving on to new concepts. Hands-on learning is a key component in every classroom. Upper elementary classes build on that foundation to help our students reach their fullest potential and

next level of learning.

Emphasis is also placed on social skills. Using group interaction times and social roleplaying, students are taught to value the strengths and differences of others as they learn to work together. Through Bible class, chapel times, and informal teaching situations, God’s Word will be used as the standard by which all things are done—“decently and in order.” (I Cor. 14:40)
